I thought I missed Canada Day yesterday, but I didn't (lingering effects from chugging Robitussin Robotripping, I suppose). Well, here's my salute to the country that brought you Kids in the Hall, Ryan Gosling (yummers!), and Celine Dion. Happy Canada Day!

A BBC feature today tells the story of a US National Guardsman who deserted to Canada after being deployed to Iraq. As Canada prepares to deport him to face trial in the US, Corey Glass is arguing he should be allowed to stay.
According to Glass, when he joined the Indiana National Guard, he was told that he would perform humanitarian work filling sandbags in the event of a hurricane — not required to serve in combat unless there were troops occupying the US — instead, he was sent to gather intelligence in Iraq.

Hi Casa,
Just a quick question: do you happen to know of any online or otherwise stores in Canada (or that delivers to Canada) for pendant lights under $100? Sorry, I know this is a pretty specific question, but I can't seem to come up with anything. - TdamjiTo see my response, just read more

We've heard a lot about potential health hazards in cosmetics, but so far, the US government hasn't done anything in response. Not so in Canada, whose government recently declared four chemicals to be toxic.
Siloxanes D4 and D5, used as emollients in products such as moisturizers and makeup, are unhealthy for the environment.

President Bush got back in the speech saddle this week, telling an invitation-only crowd in Canada that he doesn't plan on attacking his successor because Obama deserves his silence.
Apparently content with letting Cheney do the criticizing, Bush said: There's plenty of critics in the arena, I think it's time for the ex-president to tap dance off the stage and let the current president have a go at solving the world's problems. If he wants my help and I agree with him, I'll give it.

Nine in 10 Americans have a favorable opinion of Canada, making the northern neighbor America's most favored nation! According to a new Gallup Poll only 6 percent of Yankees hold an unfavorable view of Canucks. Judging from President Obama's warm reception last week in Ontario, the friendly feeling is mutual.

It may be chilly in Canada, but President Obama's welcome was anything but. Chants of "Yes we can!" seem to follow the US president everywhere he goes, even on his first trip abroad!
