Austin Perkins, 17, a senior at Golden Gate High School, in Naples, Florida wore a jacket and tie to school Wednesday in an act of defiance that sent him to in-school suspension.

His offense?

Over-dressed for school.

It seems that at Golden Gate High School, jackets and ties are verboten as violating the school dress code.

Perkins says he figured if a polo short was good, a tie and jacket would be better.

Principal Bob Spano, who apparently has no flare for dress-up, disagreed and came down on Perkins and other over-dressed kids offering them the option of getting other clothes brought to them for home or it was ‘off to in-school suspension’ for the over-dressed rascals.

It should be noted however that Golden Gate High School, like most schools, does provide exceptions for student athletes and cheerleaders who get to wear their uniforms to school on game day. Nothing like being a jock or jockette to get ya’ special privilege it seems.

In any case, the uniform for the day is ‘dress down’, not up, at Golden Gate, else Bob Spano is gonna’ make an example of ya’…
